I recently posted on facebook asking if you would rather have buttons or stickers and received a pretty overwhelming response for stickers.
So now, the next step… helping me chose which design is best. Check out the layouts below and cast a quick vote to let me know which one you would prefer.

Backups

I’ll wait. It’s worth it for the peace of mind…
If you work hard on anything on your computer, back it up. FOR REALS.
It’s too easy to keep postponing something like a backup. I have fallen prey to “doing it later”…..and there were consequences. I recently realized I had almost a terabyte of important non-backed up data and nearly had a heart attack. The amount of time and work that has went into some of these projects would be devastating to lose. These hard drives and storage banks WILL go bad, make sure you’re prepped for it. I did a bit of research on some of the top online backup companies and ended up going with one called CrashPlan. Unlimited backup space for one computer + external hard drives and auto update changed files. The only thing that costs is online backup, otherwise you can download free and create backups, backup to a disk, backup to a friend or have a friend backup to you. Lots of pretty dope options in here so far, definitely worth a look if you have put any significant amount of work into anything on your computer.

You’re not a rapper if….

All this “you have to do _______ to be a rapper” and “you’re not a real rapper if you don’t/can’t do _______” is a load of shit. You know what you can do??…. ANYFUCKINGTHING YOU WANT.
What is the point of spouting out some stupid shit like that? It’s like a weird form of bullying…. “If you can’t freestyle, you’re not a real rapper”…..really?! Cuz I would be willing to bet some of your most respected artists can’t freestyle. AND, if they all can, every single one….you’ve really pigeon-holed yourself into a small corner of a HUGE room. Some of these guys act as if they never were beginners, like they’ve always been good. I’m calling bullshit. It looks more like insecurity than anything else…”If you can’t do this thing I’ve been working at for years, then I’m better at it than you”…. Well, no shit. I would certainly hope so. But next time instead if trying so hard to look “dope” by generally badmouthing folks in your community who could (and might) be looking up to you, why don’t you offer some advice on how to improve?

To those that take this kind of ill formed bullshit to heart….. From one RAPPER/ARTIST to another… Call yourself whatever the fuck you want.

Podcasts are my shit and This American Life is definitely one of my favorites. This episode in particular had a story I thought was especially cool for music producers, audiophiles and the like. It’s not a true story, although meant to sound like a documentary…. Nonetheless, great story for anyone but if you have an interest in audio/production I think you will enjoy it on a different level.

Like a lot of artists out there I work a full time job (7-4 + a healthy drive) that takes up a huge amount of the time I feel I could be productive. It’s incredibly frustrating to be motivated to create only to have that creativity stifled because your energy must be shifted and used at work. To quit or to stay? The comfort of a steady paycheck or to struggle chasing a dream? It’s an easy answer… I know… But there’s another factor here, my family. I want to do my part in keeping us all fed, clothed, housed while also being able to create, write and record. Finding the balance between the 3 majors (family, work, music) is proving to be a very difficult task but I stay determined to find the middle ground.
Thanks to those reading, supporting and listening. I’m hoping to one day fuse the work and music into a single entity… Any support in the time leading there I am especially thankful for.
Until then… Back to work.

Been pretty quiet over here as far as updates so when I finished this up today it only seemed fair to share it….
I wrote a verse to the NAS (DJ Premier) – Represent instrumental for an upcoming Cloudmakers cypher. Wanted to have something fresh and new…then got bit by the bug this morning. Recorded this nasty draft in the car so I could start picking at it more objectively. Peep the raw scab >>
