Tuned in to music from an early age, besatree has tastes
spanning the board. Raised and presently residing in Southern
California, in his early teens, a fall into the hardcore/crust/thrash
scene soon became a headfirst dive that would become a love
for sounds. Coming up in this area taught him the value of
DIY music making and promotions, causing him to develop a
love for all aspects of the musical process, from the actual
writing and performing of the songs to designing his own
album artwork and flyers. Exposure to hip hop in his early
20's became a love for the art form in the next few years,
resulting in his beginning to make rough beats and loops.
This lead to numerous electronic and cybergrind projects,
as well as experimenting with acoustic and instrumental endeavors.
In his mid 20's, he began seriously listening to hip hop
and began to dedicate himself to making real efforts in the
genre around 2006. With a handful of releases, both printed
and online, he has collaborated with various others, including
frequent work with lightfighter, Kevin Bicknell (both musically
and through video work), Justin Van Westbroek, Mitchell Lopez
in photographic projects, Annette "Netters" Villa
in artwork aspects, and many more. Currently working on various
projects, he finds himself hungry for more at a ravenous
rate. Always teaming up with friends, he is constantly on
the lookout for like-minded individuals with which to collaborate
and perform. All of his beats are made from scratch, with
occasional samples ranging from The Knife, CCR, As the Sun
Sets, Tegan and Sara, to Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong.
He can also be found scanning the web for samples of songs
and sounds to use to create interesting, heartfelt tunes
to record powerful lyrics over. You can find him performing,
most often with friend and partner lightfighter, throughout
So Cal. He can be contacted and listened to at besatree.com.
